Career Overview

Having traded since 1975, Rooney Fish is now a second-generation family business with Andrew playing an active part in its running. In 2014, the business recently fulfilled a long-term ambition of opening an Oyster Farm in Carlingford Lough close to its Kilkeel base. Its base of operations is a 6,000 square-metre high-tech, fully automated plant and the only plant of its kind locally with full EU approval.

The Rooney family’s leadership of the company has seen it win many awards, including three Gold Stars from the Great Taste Awards, while its oysters were voted into the Top 50 Foods in the World.

The company also holds the highest level of accreditation from the Seafish Authority and the SAI Global Standard.

In December 2021, Andrew appeared on a Leaders Council of Great Britain & Northern Ireland podcast, discussing the importance of leadership and the impact it has had on his career to date.
