Career Overview

In addition to Cellar Door, Farouk is a co-founder of a network-driven, incubator for creative and Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance [“ESG”] aligned founders called, NEXUS, which has been approved by the Home Office as an endorsing body for the purpose of startup and innovator visas.

Prior to founding Cellar Door, Farouk’s career began in Barclays corporate banking, specialising in relationship management for retail and wholesale brands that included Jimmy Choo, Versace, Zara, Ann Summers, Soho Original Book stores, Fat Face and Church's Shoes. Moving onto investment banking with Barclays Trading, Farouk was involved in project managing the issue of Gracechurch Corporate Loans Series 2005 a £5 billion Synthetic CDO, Gracechurch Corporate Loans Series 2007 a £ 3billion Synthetic CDO and a £2 billion joint venture for risk transfer purposes. He concluded his time in investment banking in portfolio management of cash CDOs for Deutsche Bank.

Farouk loves nothing more than challenging perceptions and providing platforms for creative and business talent. This has led him to work with the likes of PepsiCo, iD, UEFA, Network Rail, Unilever, Westfield, Vice UK, Blue Rubicon, Pearl and Dean, BFI, Land Securities, Barclays, Elite Models, Quintain, Virgin Media, Deutsche Bank, Home Office and Morgan Stanley to name but a few.

Farouk holds a keen interest for identifying emerging talent and trends and exposing these to new or expanding audiences.
