John Baguley is the executive chair and owner of the International Fundraising Consultancy [IFC], a management consultancy specialising in fundraising for the third sector including charities, NGOs, non-profits and social enterprises.

John is a published author, having written several books on fundraising. His most recent work, ‘Fundraising and Zombies’ was published in 2018. He is also an experienced lecturer having spoken at fundraising workshops and conferences in the UK and internationally.

Career Overview

John is a specialist in strategy, capital appeals, major donor development and international fundraising. He boasts has an extensive background in fundraising having previously served as fundraising director for Amnesty International UK, Friends of the Earth and the Medical Foundation. He has worked for Oxfam and other international development organisations, and has also served on the boards of various NFPs and is a member of the Institute of Fundraising Ukraine. He has owned IFC since the year 2000.

John is a fellow of the Institute of Fundraising UK and former chair of its Consultants Group. He became the first director of International Fundraising for Amnesty's International Secretariat, and the first director of the Soil Association. 

John is a published author, having written several books on fundraising. His most recent work, 'Fundraising and Zombies' was published in 2018. He is also an experienced lecturer having spoken at fundraising workshops and conferences in the UK and internationally.

In January 2022, John appeared on a Leaders Council of Great Britain & Northern Ireland podcast, discussing the importance of leadership and the impact it has had on his career to date.

Education

John completed a PhD with the Open University, exploring the international development of NGOs. It was published by VDM Verlag.
