John Irwin is the Managing Director of Denroy Plastics, the Northern Ireland-based manufacturing subsidiary of the Denroy Group. The firm is a design, engineering and contract manufacturing business specialising in plastics injection moulding.
Career Overview
Irwin has sat as Managing Director of Denroy Plastics since 2014, overseeing a business which offers a complete service from concept, product design, tool making and material selection right through to production and delivery. Under his leadership, Denroy Plastics operates in the aerospace, haircare, automotive, defence, medical and general moulding sectors, and exports across the Americas, Asia and Europe in over 50 countries.
Starting his career as a sales representative with SHS Sales & Marketing in 1993, Irwin’s ascent in the corporate world began in 1999 with Webtech Ltd where he worked as an Account Manager. In 2001, he joined extrusion solutions specialist, Boomer Industries, based in Lisburn, Northern Ireland. He would spend a successful 12 years with the firm as Sales and Marketing Director.
Upon departing Boomer Industries in 2013, Irwin spent a year with Moffatt Thallon Ltd as General Manager before taking up his current role with Denroy Plastics. Since then, he has spent a four-year spell on the board of the Northern Ireland Advanced Engineering Competence Centre, and remains involved at board level with a range of organisations including the Centre for Competitiveness in Belfast, the Northern Ireland Polymers Association, ADS Aerospace Members’ Committee, NI Partnering for Growth Supply Chain Group, and the Northern Ireland Advanced Composites and Engineering Steering Board. He is also a member of the Belfast Regional City Deal Advanced Manufacturing Implementation Team.
Education
Irwin is a graduate of Queen’s University Belfast, where he attained a BA in Business Administration and French. He has also completed an MSc in Executive Leadership at Ulster University.
