Karen Lowen is the founder and director of three micro business, namely accountancy practice Turl & Co Ltd; manufacturer and monthly subscription box retailer Witchbox Ltd; and accountancy software company Dod-dle Corporation Ltd.

Karen is also a qualified public speaker having been awarded Competent Communicator by Toastmasters International, has published written technical articles, and is a Mensan.

Career Overview

Karen has an active role in all three businesses. The latter, Dod-dle Corporation Ltd, is active in producing Making Tax Digital accounts software and is in the process of preparing for seed investment. Karen established Turl & Co in 2004 and been involved in the running of the company ever since, while Dod-dle Corporation has been active since 2015.

Having started her career as a bank clerk with Lloyd’s Bank before going into accountancy and establishing her own businesses, Karen has blossomed into a proficient tax accountant with more than 18 years’ experience. She is well-versed in financial services. She is a fellow of the Institute of Financial Accountants, fellow of the Institute of Public Accountants and a member of the Association of Taxation Technicians.

Karen is also a qualified public speaker having been awarded Competent Communicator by Toastmasters International, has published written technical articles, and is a Mensan.

In February 2022, Karen appeared on a Leaders Council of Great Britain & Northern Ireland podcast, discussing the importance of leadership and the impact it has had on her career to date.

Education

Karen is an alumna of the University of Worcester and University of Gloucestershire.
