Having graduated the University of Oxford with an MA in Chemistry in 1989, Hampton launched his career with Monitor Company as a management consultant. He would remain there until 1994, when he joined PepsiCo. His first major step into the corporate world came in the year 2005, when he was appointed chief financial officer of PepsiCo in the UK.
