Thomas Dunn is the chairman of Orbian, a Supply Chain Finance [SCF] solutions provider. Orbian offers a collaborative, flexible solution for working capital management to meet the financial demands of an agile global supply chain.

Career Overview

Thomas has an extensive background in finance and investment, with his first major role coming in 1992. His remit was to establish a DCM effort in Melbourne, Australia, focusing on clients in Australia and New Zealand. Success in establishing JP Morgan as the leading firm in Australasian DCM saw Thomas named vice-president of JP Morgan’s Australian operation in 1996. He’d spent two years in the role running all market activities in Australia, before moving across to JP Morgan’s Tokyo operation in 1998 during the Asian credit crisis.

After three years heading up the Tokyo office of JP Morgan, JP Morgan was acquired by Chase and Thomas spent nine months executing the merger of JP Morgan’s credit activities into the Chase business. He remained with the new company until 2003, focusing on regional investment opportunities within companies that needed to be turned around.

In 2003, Thomas joined Raglan Capital and was appointed executive chairman. It is a role that Thomas retains to date, overseeing the company’s investments into business and investment opportunities in global credit markets.

Between 2004 and 2006, Thomas also co-founded and ran Prime Group Ltd, which was involved in the structured funding of high-quality financial assets. It was 2006, after his involvement with Prime ended, that he took up a second chairmanship at Orbian. From his position of chairman, Thomas helped instigate a transformation of the company from a struggling and heavily loss-making “minor player” into a solidly profitable, fast growing and acknowledged global leader in Supply Chain Finance.

In November 2021, Thomas appeared on a Leaders Council of Great Britain & Northern Ireland podcast, discussing the importance of leadership and the impact it has had on his career to date.

Education

Thomas is an alumnus of the University of Cambridge’s Magdalene College, from which he graduated in 1987 with a degree in Economics.
