A 13-year-old boy died with coronavirus last night, so far the youngest person to die from Covid-19 in the UK.
There are now more than 25,000 confirmed cases in Great Britain, with over 1,700 deaths from the virus.
With strong concerns over the safety of frontline NHS workers across the service, health secretary Matt Hancock has also asked that hospitals use lab space to test self-isolating staff with symptoms.
In international news, UN Secretary General António Guterres has warned that the pandemic is currently the "greatest test" the world had faced since the Second World War, and said it could cause a recession that has "no parallel in the recent past".
In the US, President Donald Trump acknowledged that the coming days were going to be difficult, saying that he wanted "every American to be prepared for the hard days that lie ahead".
The European death toll has also passed 30,000, with Spain recording another high of 864 deaths in the last 24 hours.
