In a fascinating new publication, Dr George Xynopoulos, consultant cardiologist and founder of Medical Diagnostics, poses the question: is the NHS suffering from the streetlight effect?

The streetlight effect is a cognitive bias that occurs when people limit their search for a solution or information to readily available or easily accessible sources, rather than exploring all relevant possibilities. It is named after the idea of someone searching for a lost item under a streetlight simply because the light makes it easier to see, even if the item is not actually located there.

But does this apply to the NHS? Read Dr Xyanopoulos’s fascinating publication and let us know your thoughts.
